Packaging: The Power Team "Elite" series Tag Team consists of one female and one male 12" action figure. There are six sets which are labelled on the back of the box as the Navy Seal, the S.W.A.T., the Firefighters, Marine, Police, and Delta Force. The window boxes are simple but colorful. Removing the goods is easy, and there aren't many twist-ties to cut off.
The Female Figure: The Special Unit and Rescue Service is described as a U.S. Marines unti. This Desert Camo Tag Team seems to bring the blonde female in every set. She has a very intense look, like Bridget Fonda in The Point of No Return. The body is articulated like a Classic Collection G.I. Joe, and she has gripping hands that can really hold weapons! The paint application to her hair, eyebrows, eyes, and lipstick is outstanding. She looks better than most of the other female "action" figures that have been marketed in recent years.
The Male Figure: Is the standard Action Man-type of body. The headsculpt is nothing special. The most commonly used headsculpt which is packed with this set seems to be the face on the male figure shown below. It looks like either Tom Cruise or Norm MacDonald (Saturday Night Live) and he seems to be in almost every set. There is also an African-American Tag Team set which is currently hard to get.
The Outfit and Gear: The female's outfit is tailored to fit the smaller size female, and if you got more than one set you could outfit a squad of female Marines! The camouflage is painted onto the helmets, and it looks good. The helmets have a web-chinstrap to keep it on, and that is an improvement over the old plastic strap that Power Team was using. The M-16 comes in two styles in each box. One has a hand grip on the front of the barrel, and a clip-on scope. The other one has several molded on accessories, the grip, & the clip-on scope. It looks like something that Rambo would be using. There are binoculars, shovels, flashlights, knives, grenades, and lots of accessories included. Most of these are keepers, as they are not the ultra-soft-rubbery gear that is strictly for infants (not infantry).
The Sandbags: The sandbags are three seperate hollow plastic configurations that each resemble several sandbags stacked together. You can stack up the seperate sandbag blocks to form bunkers or Machine Gun Outposts. If you got several of these sets you could glue them together onto a particle board and create a permanent bunker or outpost diorama. The hollow backs can be covered, filled in, and/or painted.
Overall: You get one super-excellent female figure with a tailored outfit, lots of gear and weapons and a dressed Action Man-type male figure also. Add the sandbags and all this is being sold at $14.99 per set at most BIG LOTS stores! This is the kind of set that you want to go and buy ten of them even if they are all the same! Luckily, if you search around, some stores have different "Teams" and different faces.
